Hello lovely readers and visitors of my blog, I'm very sorry that it has taken me so long to finish this book, it has 807 pages and I had to wait for glasses half way though so that also delayed me...anyway here's the review.
There were many positive things about this book, firstly I really enjoyed the plot as I thought it was fast moving and yet easy to keep up with, the main characters were easy to love (or hate) and it's almost like the reader is able to form bonds with each of them as the story is told from their point of view and as I've mentioned before this makes the experience more realistic as though you're really inside the story with those characters.
I thought there was a lovely mixture of adventure, comedy and suspense in the story and it keeps you hooked until the very end and for an author that can be quite hard to achieve, I also enjoyed how the book was set out where each main character has their own chapter, I thought that this added to the storyline as it leaves the reader wanting to know more about that character at the end of every chapter.
As with all books there is bound to be some negative feedback, for this book however I feel like the fault is my own, I started watching the TV series based on these books quite a while ago and I'm sure some of you have seen it too, because of this I already knew a lot of the major plot twists, although there were added parts and obviously everything was in so much detail but I feel like I may have ruined my own reading experience by watching the series first, I would suggest that if you're thinking about watching the series you should read the books first as there is so much more detail and you're likely to become hooked like I have been, even though I watched the series first that didn't stop me from enjoying the book, the only real criticism I have is that because the plot is so very detailed and well thought out and there are a lot of different characters coming and going I found that at times it can be hard to read for an extended period of time and I sometimes needed a break to connect some of the smaller plot lines together and to remind myself who a certain character was.
Overall I immensely enjoyed reading this book and despite saying I wasn't going to read the whole series in one go I find myself wanting more and so I intend to continue my journey through Westeros and so I leave you again to see how my favourite characters fare (if they survive long enough!)
Thank you all for being patient with me and for coming back to read my reviews, I apologise in advance for the wait whilst I read through this series but I promise as soon as I finish part two I will be back to tell you all about it!
