This week I read Dark Heart Forever by Lee Monroe, I'm still not sure what I thought of this book and I have some criticism.
Firstly I feel like the beginning of this book was a little rushed, as a reader I felt as though I didn't have much time to establish a picture of the main character before being thrown into the storyline, secondly I found that as I have read a lot of books with similar storylines that the plot was quite predictable to me and the parts of the story that I assume were supposed to be shocking to the reader, I had already worked out a few chapters beforehand, that being said there were still parts of the plot that took me by surprise, this is something that I always look for when reading these types of books and I was pleasantly surprised to be caught off-guard once or twice whilst reading this book.
On a more positive note I really liked the way that the story was written from the perspective of the main character as I feel like this is something that allows the reader to understand the character better as they are aware of the character's thoughts and feelings as the story progresses, I also like the way the relationships of the characters in this book played out, even though some were predictable I still enjoyed seeing them change as the story changed.
Overall I would say that I enjoyed this book and I found it very easy to read as I was soon flying through chapter after chapter and getting lost in the story, I would however recommend it to slightly younger readers (13-16) I think that this is the target audience for this book because the main character falls into this age bracket and I feel like readers of this age would be able to relate to her better, I will be reading the rest of the series so keep a look out for more reviews.
Next up for me is A Game Of Thrones by George R R Martin, a book that I started reading before but never got to finish, I think I'll be reading the whole series, it might take me a while to return from Westeros so I appreciate your patience.
