Hi guys, I’m back again with another review, this time Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell, this is one of the books selected by Zoe Sugg AKA Zoella for her collaboration with WHSmith’s, I bought this book a few months ago because I had seen that other book bloggers had been reading it and they were all singing it’s praises, I have to say this is a great book, usually it takes me a couple of chapters to really get into a book and I think that’s the same as a lot of people, if you’re not into it by chapter 5 put the book down and find something else but this book was a very easy read, it sort of felt like floating along on a river, it was effortless and sometimes a book like that is exactly what you need.
The characters were great and really relatable, Cath is the very definition of a nerdy fangirl, Wren is the same deep down but she’s trying to break out of her shell, Reagan is the curvy and sassy best friend that we all wish we had, the type of girl who would spend no time telling you that you have lipstick on your teeth, Levi is just great he’s funny, smart and adorable!
I think a lot of people can relate to Cath because a lot of people really struggle to socialise and be around people and I think that she is a great main character because it’s nice to see how much she changes in both personality and confidence around other people, she’s dedicated to what she loves and she’s very protective of her family which again is something I feel like a lot of people can relate to.
I don’t really have any negative feedback about this book, it was a really laid back book and I would recommend it to most people, I really liked the snippets of Cath’s fanfiction and also of the Simon Snow books, if anyone is curious about that Rainbow also wrote a book called Carry On which is Cath’s fanfiction in one book so if you wanted to fill in the blanks there is a way! I don’t know if I will read that yet but if I do I will probably rent it from the library instead of buying it.
Overall I think this is a book that anyone could get into and I will definitely be telling my friends to read it, Cath actually reminds me of a few of them so they’d probably be able to relate to it too, next up I’m reading another Zoella book club book called Everything Everything by Nicola Yoon which I’m currently more than half way through so expect a review of that one very soon!
I hope you guys enjoyed reading my thoughts about this book please share my blog with anyone who loves reading don’t forget I have an Instagram page too (@book_maiden) so go check me out if you prefer pictures instead of long reviews J until next time happy reading!
