First of all I'd like to apologise for taking so long with this review, I had a huge reading block when I got half way through (let's be honest it's quite a big book) and a few times I thought about just giving up and reading something else, but I persevered and I actually really enjoyed it.
I'm glad that I decided to read it straight after I finished the first one because I think I might have forgotten characters and plots if I had stopped at the first, again it was very easy to get lost in the story and George's writing style suits the way I read...it was chock full of suspense especially the last few chapters but as I said before, having seen the series I sort of knew what was going to happen even though there are lots of differences between the books and the show, the main plots are there all the same.
At times I found it hard to remember what had happened to a character in their previous chapter and so I had to take a few moments to think back on what happened to them last (especially Daenerys)
Overall I enjoyed this book but it took a little while to pick up speed and so it's easy to lose concentration in the middle when everything is getting set up for the big finale.
I would still recommend this book and series to people who have seen the show because there are definitely things in the books that help to understand what happened in the show and everything is just so much more detailed.
Next for me is Harry Potter and the prisoner of Azkaban by J.K Rowling, there's no reason for this I just fancied reading something a bit smaller and Christmas time always reminds me of Harry Potter so why not!
